For the last few weeks, needle work and sewing items from a New England collectors estate have been offered. The collection spanned the 19th and 20th centuries and contained items from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. You are bidding for a circa 1900 needle packet with an embossed decoration on the front. The packet was for needles made by the W. Vale and Sons Company of Redditch, England. The front cover was embossed with the figure of a Victorian woman dressed in flowing Grecian robes. Inside, there was an assortment of needles: Chenille, sharps, embroidery, darners, betweens and rug needles. Black simulated leather paper on the back cover. The packet measures about 4 1/8" x 5 1/2". Circa 1870-80s. Worn on edges, inner paper has smudges, missing needles. Bidding starts at $9.95 with no reserve.
