This flute was made around 1917-1927 however it's in overall 90-95%+ condition. This flute plays in the key of C (A=440) and features a silver plated finish, closed hole French-pointed keys, inline G, Bb trill key, boxed C footjoint and soldered toneholes. The Chapelain company was mostly known by Fernand & Cie. Chapelain. F & C Chapelain were makers and dealers of woodwind instruments between 1890 and 1917. They advertised as being successors to Godfroy Aine. In 1917, Fernand & Cie. Chapelain was purchased by Robert Siour and the name was changed to Siour-Chapelain. Siour-Chapelain was in existence from 1917 until 1927. They manufactured their woodwind instruments (only flutes have been recorded via Langwill) in Paris, France and in 1927, Robert Siour developed a partnership with Beaugnier. The headjoint of the flute is marked with the following:S *anchor* CSIOURChapelain (in script)Paris[in oval cartouche]SC [intertwined]FRANCE (VERY LIGHT STAMP) Also included with the sale of this flute is the original wooden French case in overall condition. The spine of the case had broken but has been repaired, works perfectly and the latches work 100%! I just noticed that the zoom-in slideshow is still runnning (normally I delete the pictures after the auctions end) so let me know if you'd like that html code and I'll paste it to you... Here's the link to the auction (that wyou won the flute in) but I'm not sure if the link works for you: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200225496207 . If you want to add that link directly I can give you the html code for that also. Thanks! -Suzie
