Not sure of metal, but reacts slightly with magnet, opening is about 1" wide, it is about 17 1/2" long, the old original ruby flash glass has a corner missing, the design has been cut to clear or etched on one side. A must have for the collector! This is a piece out of a private collection I have had for years, originally acquired from a retired roofer. Most of these lightning rod and weathervane items have spent years on the roofs of houses and barns, so are not in mint condition.
