Description
Welcome! Please click on image to enlarge! Up for your consideration: ANTIQUE CARROM BOARD FLAGS OF NATIONS by Carrom-Archarena Co. Listed it just as I bought it. Sold as is due to its age. Rough in spots (see photos). Signed and patented 1899. Measures approx 29 x 29 inches. Nice one! Some history: 1890sIn the last quarter of the 19th century Henry Haskell, a Sunday School teacher, viewed with alarm the growing number of boys who loafed around pool rooms. (Ironically, the company would eventually manufacture pool tables.) Haskell had an inventive mind and he concentrated his thought on supplying a game which would appeal to these boys and supply wholesome enjoyment. Soon after, Haskell patented and introduced the U.S. Carrom game board. Produced at Ludington Novelty Works (Ludington, MI) of which he was part owner. 1900sLudington Novelty Works and Archarena Company of Peoria, IL., merge and become Carrom-Archarena Co. Production stays in Ludington. (1901) SHIPPING: I pack well and ship out weekly via FEDEX GROUND. WHERE I GET MY ITEMS: I purchase products for sale at estate sales, tag sales, and farm auctions throughout the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa. I try to offer unusual items that I would love to own. That way, I know others would love to own them as well. GUARANTEE: For the most part, I deal with primitives and antiques with lots of charm. That means they are not always in perfect shape and I consider them sold as-is. I usually offer a bunch of pictures to enable you to see exactly what you’re getting. If there are obvious flaws I do my best to point them out. If you receive something in the mail and it’s obvious to anyone that I haven’t described it or the pictures don’t capture the item properly, I will gladly refund your money (less return postage) if you email within 24 hours of receipt of item and let me know. PAYMENT: I like to get paid through PAYPAL within a few days of the auction. If you plan to pay by check or money order, or it’s going to be longer than a few days before you pay, please let me know. I’ll work with you! Remember, if you use PAYPAL, you get your item quicker. Thanks for looking and have a great day! My friend Murphy
