Description
Complete and brilliantly conserved ANATOMICAL HUMAN TORSO MODEL from the german brand-name manufacturer SOMSO, dated 1910. A fascinating rarity in the documentation of the HISTORY OF HUMAN MEDICINE ON ANATOMICAL RESEARCH !!!SPECIFICATIONS:Country of Origin: GermanyDate: around 1910Manufacturer: Somso in Sonnenberg, GermanyMarks: "SOMSO brand-label "Material: Plaster, pedestal woodManufacturing Technique: Very fine hand paintingCondition: Very good original as found condition with small traces of wear - NO RESTORATION ! The pictures illustrate the condition of the item very accurately. Size: Height is 17.32 inches  /  44 cmThe Somso company, set up by Marcus Sommer in Sonnenberg (Germany) in the year 1876, has from its start been specialized on high-quality anatomical models, and still today it is one of the world's leading production firms of such scientific models.Dated around 1910, the torso model, entirely made of plaster, was handcrafted with utmost effort. Main parts of the viscera are plastically modelled and can be taken out for purposes of illustrations or studies. Those parts still show the original numbering and some of them can be taken apart even further. The accuracy in detail and the attention that is paid to even the smallest parts of the model during its production is astonishing, and so is the realistic reproduction of nature that is reached with this model. Please pay regard to the separate photographs which show the viscera in detail. It is positioned on a wooden platform, which, as a sign of quality, bears the "Somso sun" - the registered trademark of the company. In places, the model shows minor signs of old age and wear, but it is in a brilliant, original condition and has not been restored. This torso is a very rare and exceedingly attractive testimony of human medical history.  Today, models like this - especially in such a complete and well-conserved original condition - are very hard to find!!!I will be happy to send you further information. Do not hesitate to send me an e-mail and I will be pleased to answer your questions quickly.Payment: to be made by PayPal only.Shipping:  This is a rather large, fragile, and heavy item.  The buyer will pay actual shipping costs including insurance.  I will ship the buyer's preferred method.  Good luck in bidding!
