Description
tookalook Store A Fine Old African (Yoruba) Ibeji Fig. Questions? Inquiries? Please email me at info@tookalook.com This a great old and well handled Ibeji figure. Amongst the most famous Yoruba carvings, Ibejis represent deceased twins that, according to Yoruba belief, continue to influence the lives of the living. As such, they are honoured, handled and fed. This handling, as is evident in the enclosed example, gives rise to often dramatic lustrous surfaces. This fine old figure, Ca. earlier 20th cent. has brilliant carving and such excellent patina. Expressive and engaging the work, measuring 8" 3/4 x 3" x 3", is in excellent condition as seen (note stable dryness crack) ==================================================== Please note that payment must be processed before shipping (VISA/MC ACCEPTED) and that such shipping is at buyer's expense (actual cost). Canadian Buyers must add GST and Quebec buyers must also add PST.. Also, please view pictures of my other auctions in progress and visit my About Me page for more on info on Tookalook (and the Tookalook Website)! Thanks for your bids and your interest! Questions?
