It has been "completely refinished" and ready for another 100+ years of service in your home. Frame measures 13-7/8" x 15-7/8" overall and requires an 11-7/8" x 13-7/8" floor opening. Register measures 9-3/4" x 11-3/4" overall and seats securely in frame opening.(Register fits an 8" x 10" floor opening.) Depth of register is 3" with louvers opened. This register was completely disassembled and chemically stripped of multiple layers of lead based paints, including the original Japan Black finish. Brass brushes were used to remove any remaining finish, all rust, and to polish the metal. This method takes longer than sandblasting, but it is less compromising to the integrity of the metal. All pieces were refinished while disassembled. 1 generous coat of a good quality oil based primer was applied to all pieces. The frame is finished with 2 coats of an "Aged Brass Metallic Finish". The louver adjustment knob is accented with the same "Aged Brass Finish". The register is finished with 3 coats of a "Low-Lustre Black Eggshell Finish". (In the event you wish to change the color of the register, you may apply your finish directly over this with minimal or no surface preparation.) Four solid brass screws replace the original screws for an additional accent. (If you would prefer to have the original screws, finished in black, please let me know.) PLEASE NOTE: The bottoms of the louvers were very rusty and required extensive cleaning. In the process, it somewhat obscured the manufacturer's name and patent date stampings, making them difficult to read. There are very few surface casting imperfections. There are no cracks or breaks.
