The word 'THREAD' is cut into the front of the bottom drawer. The wood The back of the cabinet is hinged about 3/4 of the distance from the top to the bottom. The hinged portion is a tight fit, so I haven't been able to get it opened. There is a beautiful tiny swinging latch to fasten the hinged portion. I believe the case was built this way to allow the storekeeper access to the drawers from the back of the cabinet. There is a small broken area around the latch, probably where someone tried to pry open the door. Each drawer has a beautiful white porcelain pull fastened to the drawer with brass screws. There are wooden dividers in the drawers to help keep them organized. Some of the dividers are missing. The drawers are in good condition, although there is a chip out of the corner of the top one. The cabinet is made out of a light colored wood that has been stained a dark walnut. As far as I can tell, it is the original finish. There are a few small wear areas and the finish has crazed slightly, but it has a great patina. It measures 15" x 13" x 14". It is larger at the bottom than the top.
