Description
This auction is for a cast metal chandelier with a heavy duty hook for hanging, 5 arms and a squat glass shade at the end of each. Each white satin glass shade has a hand painted pink and green floral decoration on its top. An ornamental ring hangs below the center of the lamp. A curly heart-shaped leaf sits on each arm in between the shade and the center pole. A long and slender leaf is attached to the bottom of each bulb socket, flaring outward. As it is, this hanging lamp has a 64" cord for plugging into a socket. If you prefer, the light may be easily converted for hard-wiring to the ceiling. The bulbs shown in the photo are standard flame style available in any hardware store and are not included with the lamp. A longer chain for hanging may be similarly purchased. Weighing in at 12 lbs, this hanging lamp measures 20" in diameter and 15" tall. The copper colored shade holders appear to be brass, and each is permanently attached to the shade. The rest of the lamp is a magnetic metal, which I believe is brass color on cast iron. I see no identifying marks, so I don't know who made it. I believe it is from the late 1800's to early 1900's. Goes well with Art Deco, Victorian, Art Nouveau, or as an accent piece in any elegant decor. Condition: This chandelier is in working condition. The metal is tarnished and needs a light cleaning, but I'm leaving that to the buyer, in case the current patina is desireable. The metal has no cracks, breaks or repairs. I see no significant defects in the glass, but each shade has a few flea bites along its rim. All but one shade shows negligible paint loss. The remaining shade has significant paint loss, but the decoration still has presence. The shades of green and rose coloring vary slightly between glass shades. Photos: The color of the metal in this chandelier is more orange than yellow in the sunlight. Handling charge for the item is $20. SHIPPING & HANDLING COSTS TOO HIGH? Did you know that eBay listings appear near the bottom of search results pages if sellers don't specify shipping costs when they list? In order to overcome this handicap, we are including automatic s/h quotes for many of our products. Do not be scared away by these automatic quotes! If the amount seems ridiculously high, please contact seller for a manually determined quote using an alternative shipping service. We can’t promise it will be lower, but in 75% of the cases, it will be. Please take a moment and visit my eBay Store, Elegant Junque. I have an eclectic array of interesting items, and I add new items every day. Buy multiple items and save on shipping! Due to illness in the family, Elegant Junque will be shipping only once a week for awhile. The normal shipping day will be Wednesday. If your item is paid for by Tuesday night, it will be included in the next day’s shipping. HOW WE DETERMINE S/H COSTS: We take great pride in our safe arrival record. As demonstrated by the feedback we receive, the time and materials we use to ensure it are appreciated and well worth the money. We hope you will agree. In case you are interested, the ingredients that go into our cost calculation are: Amount of popcorn needed to ensure that the box will hold up under pressure from other boxes and any careless handling by the shipping contractor. Popcorn costs $.27/gallon (which isn't much). Amount of bubble wrap needed to ensure that both the body and any appendages will hold up under pressure from other boxes and any careless handling by the shipping contractor. There are 3 sizes of bubble wrap, each costing a different amount. For instance, medium size costs $.12 for each 12"x12" sheet. Box size, as any item that is more than 17 inches on one side incurs a significant postal surcharge. Also, a large lamp box can cost as much as $14. Box weight, which is impacted by both the item purchased AND the quality of cardboard needed to protect the item. Postage for heavy items is significantly more than for lighter ones. The amount of time it takes to package the item. For instance, it takes nearly an hour to properly package a large, multi-part, lamp, while it only takes a few minutes to package a hockey puck. My packer gets $8/hour. To help keep packaging costs down, we reuse every box we receive and try to avoid purchasing a special box for a particular item. Consequently, many of our packages are made of multiple smaller boxes. To keep overall costs down, we also make bulk purchases of supplies, such as bubble wrap and popcorn.
