I BELIEVE THESE ARE OPEN SALTS OR POSSIBLY INDIVIDUAL NUT DISHES. THESE ARE QUITE OLD AND DATE TO QUEEN VICTORIAN TIMES. c. 1880 or so. I also believe these are Nippon. They were found with two larger master salt dishes with the Nippon mark however not the same pattern so I am listing them separately. These are all hand painted with lots of gold and beading. Accent color is aquamarine or turquoise. No two are alike. There is a 5th one of these that will be included with the sale but sadly it has an old crack. I just hate throwing things away that are this old unless absolutely necessary. 1.5" diameter with scallop rims. 4 cm. 2.5 cm. tall or 1". As nut dishes these were propped between your middle fingers so you could nibble on the mixed concoction, so you could walk around and chat with the guests while awaiting to be called to the dinner table.[ of course today the idea of serving nuts and snacks is in huge bowls the size of pet bathtubs].
