They read P.T.C. and P.T.Co. on the faces which is the Philadelphia Transportation Company and they likely date back to the 1930Ü#39;s or earlier. Both are painted with the same green as the PTC trolleys and both have removable cast iron backs which were attached to the trolleys. The green paint covers a brass or bronze surface on both meters. When you pull the leather straps on either meter the bell rings and the digit on the left increases by one which keeps count of either the number of passengers coming in or going out. These are great looking meters whether you use them for display or for your own trolley collection.
