Description
Circa 1860 (Edo) Kutani Heisen Shoza 6” x 4 ¾” H. These simply gorgeous Heisens have a center with pink and white flowers, leaves, and a brown and gold fan. They have beautifully painted borders inside the rims which are scalloped. The outside has one fan showing a family sitting in a room with the father, mother, and son all looking out the window toward a lake with boats and a wooded shoreline. The second fan is a picturesque scene of a bird flying under a colorful tree. There are reserves between these fans containing several bamboo trees. This is all encased in a beautiful gold, pink, blue, brown, orange and yellow solidly painted color pattern. The base is also beautifully decorated in three separate patterns, all with a great deal of gold being used. These 140 year old Kutani Heisens are signed and in Mint condition. There are no cracks, chips, hairlines, or restorations with the exception of a tiny ding mark which I had trouble finding! Truly fabulous pieces of very old Kutani ware that would make a great additions to your Japanese collection. Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
