Description
Circa 1860 (Edo) 7 3/8”x 3 ½” H. Imari Akae Nishikide “Roku-Sun-Diam” Donburi. These gorgeous Imari bowls are signed on the bottom and have scalloped rims. These are stunning and very finely done, deep Japanese Imari bowls, and you will find that the work on these is fabulous. The use of gold on these pieces is very extensive, both inside and out, both in the figures, reserves, decorating, etc, and in the outlines of all of these. Three red ground reserves with gold, orange, purple florals and leaves and three reserves with blue, orange, green, red, and gold flowers, trees, and bushes can be found around the inside of the bowls. The exact same beautifully colored pattern is found around the outside of the bowls. The top scalloped inner and outer rim features banks of green, orange, gold, and blue decoration and florals. The very center of the bowls also have a very intricate design in blue and gold. For porcelain items that are 140 years old, they are in mint condition with no wear, even to the gold! There are no cracks, chips, hairlines, or restorations to these most outstanding pieces of Imari and they would display beautifully in your Oriental collection. Don’t let them slip by!
