Fjaa' Description Charming antique Montain Karachof, On the border of Gorgia nad Azerbijan, size 4.2x 7.7,circa 1890. Attractive rug with two large octagons on mellow red and a large white square. This is unlike to the other Holbein Karachof and has a polychorme geometric medallions on light blue. It is specify as a "second group' karachof. Design are with feature of polygonal red medallions. The large white ram's-horn design is very bold and outstanding. Charming field ornaments including comb,stars. 'S' design,ram's-horn,and diamonds. Meharab has been framed the field with corssing design in brown and yellow. The four band of border are interesting with a large main ram's-horn on white background. There is a good harmony of coloring and design between border and field. This rug is in excellent condition with very good shagy wool pile troughout. ,slight lower pile on white medallion,kpsi of 10x 5, complete rug with ends and edges,slight oxidized browns,four rows of wool weft and wool warp.
