Description
This massive fixture was made by the Waterford Crystal Company for the Whittemore family of St. Louis. In 1966 Mrs. H. H. Whittemore donated the chandelier to the St Louis Symphony Society. The fixture graced the Green Reception Room at Powell Symphony Hall for almost forty years. The Green Reception Room was the conductors personal reception hall. This chandelier (circa 1890) has twelve ornately cut five sided arms. It has a 44" drop and a 42" diameter. The photos do not do this magnificent chandelier justice! The Theis Plating Company in St. Louis has recently completed a three year restoration of this magnificent Waterford chandelier. All missing crystals were duplicated by the Waterford Company and two cracked arms were meticulously, and securely repaired. (see close-up photos) The chandelier was also newly wired during this restoration. One of the most important features of this chandelier, besides how exquisite it is, is that it is completely intact. Every missing crystal was duplicated by Waterford at a cost of several thousand dollars. See all photos and email with any questions prior to bidding.
