This wall hanging measures 18" X 20". The subdued blue colors have faded with age and make it look like an original Egyptian tomb decoration, but this one has slightly brighter colors than are usually seen, the gold and red colors in this one are quite bright. The image on this wall hanging is more of a design than the typical figural representations seen on these tapestries. It appears to be some sort of basin with 2 bird heads coming out of it or if you step back it could be an egyptian head with some sort of head dress. If you think it's a design rather than a head then you'll notice that above the bird heads it seems like there is a flow of water down the sides. The basin shape looks to be perched atop a gold base or it could be a pyramid. The design appears to be made of linen and cotton fabrics sewn onto a heavy coarse canvas like backing. These tapestries usually exhibit shattering and decomposition of the fabric, but this one does not have any deterioration at all. The red and gold fabrics are still bright, but the other colors have faded, and there is a small brown stain in the background area at the lower right. Overall it's in very good condition for it's age.   Payment and Shipping: Payment is expected within 5 days of the auction's close.
