This wall hanging measures 18.5" X 51". The subdued colors of blues, reds, greens, browns, whites and black have faded with age and make it look like an original Egyptian tomb decoration. The scene is of a tall, single figure Egyptian holding what looks to be a scepter and some sort of tool or rattle. At the bottom there are pyramids and at the top an arm holding another tool or small scepter comes into the image area. The entire scene appears to be made of linen and cotton fabrics sewn onto a heavy coarse canvas like backing. These tapestries usually exhibit shattering and decomposition of the fabric, and this one has some deterioration present. There is a blackened area across the midsection that resembles mildew but it doesn't smell like it and it appears superficial. It might be something that could be soaked out because it doesn't extend through to the other side. There is also thinning of the fabric in several areas on the border and in 2 stripes of the pyramids. Overall it's in fair to good condition for it's age.   Payment and Shipping: Payment is expected within 5 days of the auction's close.
