This wall hanging measures 18.5" X 59". The subdued colors of blues, reds, greens, browns, whites and black have faded with age and make it look like an original Egyptian tomb decoration. The scene is full of figures, 6 standing Egyptians, a sphinx, pyramids, palm trees and hieroglyphs. The entire scene appears to be made of linen and cotton fabrics sewn onto a heavy cotton canvas backing. These tapestries usually exhibit shattering and decomposition of the fabric, but outside of fading, none of the fabric has deteriorated. There is a several layer border that is also still strong and intact, with only some holes left from thumb tacks visible. This wall hanging has been well cared for and is excellent condition for it's age. The background color shown in the photos is a much brighter white than it is, the actual color is more tan than white.   Payment and Shipping: Payment is expected within 5 days of the auction's close.
