Description
I've included photos of almost a third of the book as almost every page deserves to be seen - also see that I've included a copy of the complete contents page. This is really an outstanding book that even includes a few prints that could be sold seperately for nearly my opening bid (see the "Ohio Iron Company" below). This is the "Combination Atlas Map of Muskingum County, Ohio" by L.H. Leverts and Co., Philadelphia, printed in 1875. It is a larger sized book that is about 17.5" x 14" and it has 124 pages, and all pages are present. The cover is nearly loose on the front and back as the outer spine is worn away, and the first end page (a blank page) is mostly torn out and missing. The first ten pages are a bit rough and soiled with some tears, but also expect some amount of soiling all the way through, and an occasional tear. The fold-out Ohio map has a number of long tears and needs some tlc in restoring. After that, there are a number of really terrific maps in much better condition. And to me, the real prize is the Ohio Iron Company print and the Griffith and Wedge print. Both are printed on a single sheet of paper so that if you removed them for framing you wouldn't have a tear down the middle. I have seen reproductions of the Ohio Iron Company print a number of times, so I'm not the only one who considers an original copy (as is in this book) to be a real prize. There are a few pages in the back that list all the businesses of the day in the county, and there are a number of drawings of prominent residents throughout the book, so this is a wonderful source for a local historian. Shipping based on 7 pounds - media mail is available, however I do not recommend it this time of year unless you are in absolutely no hurry at all to receive this. 7 day satisfaction guarantee. Paypal, checks and money orders.
