There is obvious signs of wear as you see pictured, but for the age, still looks wonderful. The wooden cover is worn as you see. Someone wrote inside of it with a date (but from my research it not the circa of this machine) and their name. The wooden cover has cracks in the wood, crackles in the finish and mild warping. The metal frame is dull and worn as well, but is straight. Since the original black finish has almost completely worn off there is surface rust visible, but does not look bad. The detailed ornate pearl inlay on the sewing machine is still intact in wonderful condition. The finish on the sewing machine also with obvious signs of wear from age. We are not collectors or antique experts, so we do not want to tamper with the cosmetic condition or mechanics of the antique and rare sewing machine. We will leave the restoration to the lucky winning bidder of this item. Please view the photos carefully. We do not know what this machine show have looked like or included originally, so we are unable to mention ALL flaws that we are unaware of. This machine will be in need of detailed cleaning and restoration, sold as you see it here. The machine will be shipped in a couple different boxes for safety. I HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL TO CORRECT THE DATING OF THE MACHINE, BUT AM STILL UNSURE. ACCORDING TO THE EBAYER THAT EMAILED, THE LARGER NUMBER ON THE LOWER PART OF THE MACHINE (1710548) INDICATES THE MACHINE WAS MADE IN 1874. WHEN I TALKED TO SINGER, THEY TOLD ME THE NUMBER DIRECTLY TO THE RIGHT OF THE LARGER NUMBER WAS THE SERIAL NUMBER (314548). THAT WOULD DATE THE MACHINE AT 1869.
