The book is 15 1/2" tall x approx. 12 1/2" wide.  All of the maps are in color which appear to be hand-tinted. Each map is marked "Steam Lith Print" by A. Gast* Co. St. Louis. The pages are hand-stitched in the binding and it is coming loose.  The first half of the book is strictly Missouri maps and a wealth of statistical information. There are approximately 125 pages in the first half with about 35 pages of maps.  Usually 3-6 Counties are grouped together on one map page.The Missouri Atlas gives as of 1864 statistics on the larger and older individual counties such as businesses, churches, hotels, schools & colleges, railroads, governors, history, topography, senators & representatives in Congress, geology, climatology as well as the entymology of the area.The second half of the book is a complete Mitchell's New General Atlas containing individual maps of each State and also  various countries of the world, full 2 page layouts of major cities like New York & Boston, etc. embraced in 72 quarto maps forming a series of one hundred and three maps and plans together with valuable statistical tables. We are missing 4 pages in this section - pages 2, 3, 4 & 5. Page 2 is the Western Hemisphere map, 3 & 4 are Mercator's World and pg. 5 is the Eastern Hemisphere map.  There is a reference table showing cities, villages and towns and U.S. territories and post offices.We are also missing the back cover of the book.  The front cover is no longer attached and the stitching is coming loose. Otherwise the individual pages are in pretty good condition with a little wear on the edges.  Buyer pays shipping. Payment accepted by check, money order or Paypal.
