Y. The two volumes of Picturesque America gave Americans one of the earliest views of what the topography of the entire country was. Both volumes had a dozen or so of these high quality engravings plus hundreds of small images along with the descriptive text. It was also issued in a weekly series. This is a 6 x 9 steel plate engraving depicting the City of New York from Brooklyn Heights, foreground is a park with trees, and a man and woman walking in the park. Harbor is shown with many boats, sail boats in full sail, sail boats with rigging, as well as steam and paddle boats. Across the water is the sky line of New York, with the Brooklyn Bridge off to the right. Great print, with some very light foxing in the margin, most will mat out. Good strong strike. VG+.
