Text releveant to the map surrounds it on three sides. Map is 12 x 17 inches ( 30 x 43 cm) with full plate size of 17 x 25 inches ( 43 x 63 cm). Source is : Atlas Geographique, Statisque, Historique et Chronologique des Deux Ameriques et des Iles Adjacentes" published in Paris by J. Carez, Rue Haute feuillle, No. 18. In 1822, Henry Charles Carey and Isaac Lea published their American Atlas. This volume was based on Emmanuel Las Cases’ Atlas Historique of 1803, with updated maps and text modified by Carey, a political economist. The atlas was published in Paris in 1825 by J. A. Buchon and is considered by many to be of finer quality both in terms of engraving and paper (certainly true in the latter case here). In Buchon edition he notes that the atlas is translated from an atlas done in America based on Le Sage and that he (Buchon) has made " nombreuses corrections et augmentations".
