Additional Maps or Prints shipped with the Largest for Free Free Shipping on Purchases of 5 or More Maps and Prints Title:  Theatre de la Guerre Sur la coste de Coromandel Description:  It is an original antique copper engraving with embossed plate marks around the margins, uncolored in its original state.  It is by Jacques Nicolas Bellin, Royal Hydrographer for the French Crown, an office involved in creating charts and maps mainly for navigation purposes.  The map was originally published in l'Abbe Antoine Prevost's Histoire generale des Voyages, 20 vols. (Paris: Didot, 1746-1759), thus circa 1750. The print is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. It is a nice very dark impression. It basically shows the southeast coast of India where the British and French were at war in the 18th century. It is a beautiful print with an Antique appearance as deisred!  Size: The print image measures approximately 9 1/2 by 12 1/2 inches (24 x 32cm) on a 10 1/4 by 14" (25.5 x 36cm) page as seen in the pic. Condition: The print is in Good condition with a tight left margin and clip off the top left corner as seen in the pic and slight crease across the bottom left corner. It has two vertical and one horizontal folds as issued. It is very clean, strong impression, blank on reverse, printed on quality cotton paper of the period and should frame up nicely. Disregard any pinkish tints or dark shadows from lighting only.
