This Map of Europe Europe According to the Most Exact Observations is Humbly Dedicated click image to enlarge click image to enlarge This very large beautifully hand coloured original antique map of Europe - with an inset shows a detail of the connection between the Don and Volga Rivers, allowing transport between the Black Sea and the Caspian & dedication to Queen Ann - was engraved in 1708 - the date is engraved in the printers cartouche - and was published by John Bowles of London.In the 18th century many large-scale maps were published by the likes of John Senex and Herman Moll, this trend continued until the end of private mapping in the early 19th century when it was replaced by Ordnance Survey maps.
