Totius ALSATIAE Novissima Tabula, qua simul SUNDGOVIA, BRISIGAVIA, ORTENAVIA, maxima pars MARCHIONATUS BADENSIS, nec non alite insertae et adjacentes Regiones exactissime ostenduntur per NICOLAUM VISSCHER Amst: Bat: cum Privil: Ordin: General: Belgii Foederati. Beautiful handcolored copper plate engraved map by Nicholas Visscher II, Atlas Major, published in Amsterdam, 1702. Image measures 57.3 x 46.3 cm (22 5/8 x 18 3/8"). Page measures 64.3 x 53.4 cm (25 1/4 x 21"). Horizontal center fold. This is a detailed map of Alsace and Baden with a handsome illustrated title, scale and legend. Condition is excellent. Page edges are slightly toned. Small separation at fold in left margin, not affecting the image. Separation is closed with old paper on the reverse. Age of the color evident on reverse where the arsenic content of greens shows through. Second picture is a digital photograph; rest are scans. We have been selling original antique prints and maps in New York for over 25 years and on eBay since 2001.
