Description
1700s Dentist Scalar Tools in Case This is a 1700s to early 1800s Dentist Scaling Tool set in leather case. These rare treasures were most often found with travelers in the 1700s to 1800s and often used by dentists of the period. The handle is mother of pearl (MOP). There are six, 6, steel scalars that fit into handle. Four of the steel tools show light wear and two show very little wear. The leather case is lined in red silk with hidden mirror. Mirror has a lot of foxing, but overall kit displays very well. Per Bennion and Wilbur Books on Antique Dentist Instruments, these date from late 1700s to early 1800s and seldom found. Each scalar is 2.5” in length and when attached to Ivory handle is 4.5 inches. Case size is 3 x 2.5 x .75 inches. This 200+ year old dental scaling set of tools in case will highlight any collection as they belong in a museum or with a serious collector.Buyer to pay shipping/handling and insurance.
