Description
Current Lot Set of Scottish Parcel Gilt Silver Ceremonial Dress Accoutrements Retailed by Marshall & Son, Edinburgh, 19th Century Consisting of a dirk, a skean dhu, a sporran plate with chain, two shoe buckles, a brooch, eight buttons, a powder horn and four buckles. Each elaborately embossed and engraved with scrolling foliage including thistles and forest scenes, most embellished with precious stones including diamonds, aquamarines, emeralds, garnets, amethysts and citrines. Several pieces with the Matheson arms, a rampant lion above the motto Heart and Hand. Apparently unmarked, except for powder horn engraved, Marshall & Son/ 87 George Street/ Edinburgh. Within a recent fitted case. Length of dirk: 20-3/4 in (52.7 cm)
