Measurements: L. 3" Before purchasing a so-called antiquity on eBay, please make sure you know what you are buying. Buying authentic antiquities requires a bit of knowledge and a lot of common sense; do not be fooled by those who are selling fakes! PROVENANCE: Ex-West Coast Dealer, acquired at a private auction.Authenticity is Guaranteed for Life! Glass came into the lives of the ancients as early as 1,500 B.C... It became a common import and export commodity as vessel used for libations, medicines, perfumes and exotic oils around 500 B.C... The Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans and Etruscans were some of the first pioneers in the art of glass making. As the Roman Empire grew, so did the industry of glass blowing and cast glass. During the first through third centuries A.D., much of the Roman glass was cast and used for items as unguentaria, bottles, cups and bowls. Yet the art of elaborate glass blown items were still coveted and very much in demand throughout the empire. Large workshops and skilled craftsmen perfected this ancient art of glass making and it became one of Rome's largest exports in the Mediterranean and in the world during this period. At the peak of its popularity Roman glassware was apparent in nearly every aspect of the ancient person’s daily life. The ancient lady's morning toilette and cosmetic, or an ancient merchant's afternoon business dealings, dining with a Roman glass cup filled with wine. To date, some of the most exquisite and finest glass in the world is still produced in Venice, Italy, Aleppo and Damascus, Syria. GUARANTEE We always do our best to make sure you are 100% satisfied.
