Description
These are museum quality Arts & Crafts era tapestry draperies made to hang over windows not as portieres do over doors. However, as this fabric is so heavyweight-made to keep out the winter drafts in the days before even the best of homes had central heating, they could easily serve as portieres and would look correct too. Either French or American, There are two of these panels measure 46"W (btm) X 88"L X 24"W (pleated top) They are fully lined. But the person expertly matched up the pattern. You could also just easily tack these up as wall coverings they rival the best machine made tapestries of the time and remind me of the tapestries described in "The Custom of the Country" by Edith Wharton, you know, the fine old, slightly sunfaded but high quality tapestry, well these panels are exactly how I pictured them. There are no holes or stains on any of this fabric that is slightly sunfaded. Again linings are original, I doubt these have been washed but I can tell you I have given them a good long airing and they smell fine! I truly assume these will end up as upholstery, pillows or the like, but honestly they would stand alone hung as a tapestry or even how wonderful would it be to use them as intended! The rich hues that are so classic and so subtle would match any antique furniture of high quality. You could never purchase this fabric for anywhere near this price today, this antique fabric is better made, has a pedigree and is just much better than anything on the market today in this line of fabric outside of custom-made work. only take Paypal for I have had too many deadbeat buyers in the past. I will consider a postal money order if you email me politely and explain why you are afraid of Paypal. Of all the things to be afraid of in today's world darling, terrorists, $8 cups of coffee and fat free cheese, Paypal is really not one of them but I imagine there are a few people that still are. I'm sure we can work something out. I am always listing something so check back soon. If you buy more than one thing I will refund any difference in shipping. I love the flat rate boxes and often use them, but if it's likely to be cheaper to not use one (they go by weight) I don't. All text & use of props are copyrighted by the author. Please feel free to ask any questions, and read the 'me' link above next to my seller name for more minor rules in regards to shipping etc.. I do not take returns except for store credit on arrival unless I have made a massive mistake. No exceptions. I take excellent photos and always answer questions, if you are uncertain, do not bid. I work really hard to find y'all good stuff so please ask me as many questions as you need to so you are happy about your purchase--for nearly 10 years 99.99% of the people who have purchased from me loved their item so be confident and again, if you have questions, ask them. I'll do my best to get back to you laser fast. I ship about once a week if this is a rush order let me know. Oftentimes I ship faster than that it all depends on family and work responsibilities. After a lifetime of reading too many books and buying textiles, I have quite a stash of stories to tell and textiles to sell so check back often! Signed, your, Reluctant Baroness.
