Each coin is superbly beautiful... This is NOT second-rate dealer overstock, it is a solid investment portfolio!  Massive value on these coins. There are many different ways to get a value of a coin some use the Red Book, some use the Greysheets, and there are several other valuation services out there. We valued some of these according to Collectors Universe Online Guide ( also known as the PCGS website).  Some of the coins had very large retail values a lot were $500+. The top coin we seen was even valued at $3,600! This collection contains some coins that you want to keep. But we did try to show the variety you will receive.   A WORD ABOUT CERTIFIED COIN VALUES: A seasoned coin collector or dealer may want skip this section, but for the rest, this may help in determining values more consistent with reality. Unfortunately, there is much misinformation concerning this topic. While pcgs.com is regarded as a very reliable place to check values, it must be remembered that those values are for coins that THEY certify. If another grading service has been used, typically, the values MUST be considered to be LOWER. How much lower? That depends on the service. Coin dealers use a newsletter known as the "gray sheet" or CDN (Coin Dealer Newsletter) to find values more in line with wholesale. You may never be shown this if you ventured into your local coin shop. However, it is useful for our purposes here. In a "box" on the front page, statistics are kept about the top grading services. For example, PCGS and NGC usually get between 85 – 94% of their listed values. They are somewhat regarded as a benchmark in excellence. Next down the list comes ANACS and ICG (a newer grading service that has earned a good reputation).  While ICG or ANACS coins may generally not be regarded as highly as PCGS, it certainly doesn't mean those coins are third rate, not at all, but it does mean that they will often trade at lower dollars. In the case of ICG now, the dealer-to-dealer, "sight-unseen" rates might average about 83% compared to PCGS.  But they can be lower too, much lower, depending on the grading company, and there are many others, some with good reputations, and others not so good. Please keep these things in mind as you make your evaluations. If possible, do your own research, be an informed bidder.  Incredible potential here!    Bonus:  36 additional slabbed coins   These additional coins are all from various third-party companies. Typically, these coins sell for less than what a similiar coin from PCGS or NGC would sell for. Some believe that these companies grade their coins with a different standard. The great thing about these coins are that they are all over Ebay and there is a HUGE market for these coins, they resale extremely well and are very profitable for resellers. So, there is a grand total of 138 slabbed coins (102 can be considered "certified") in this estate!!   MODERN ARTWORK     Egon SCHIELE Original Drawing   The drawing we offer here is a very compelling original piece, It has to be seen to be fully appreciated.  A remarkable piece,  sure to be treasured by it's new owner!  IN REGARDS TO VALUE...   Edgar DEGAS Original Drawing   Please do not confuse this original drawing with a mere print or litho.  It is signed "Degas"  IN REGARDS TO VALUE...   Alexi Von JAWLENSKY Original Drawing Alexei von Jawlensky is a very important modern artist whose work is often compared to that of Matisse, although his style is so unique, in some sense it defies too casual a comparison.  Born in Russia, the son of an army officer, it seemed as though Alexei was set to follow in his father's footsteps.  But in 1880, after seeing an exhibition at the World's Fair in Moscow, he determined to become an artist as well.  In 1902, after discharging his military duties, he moved to Munich, Germany with his young wife, in the hopes of seriously pursuing art.  There he met the famous artist Wassily Kandinsky, also from Russia, and together they founded the New Artist's Society. This piece is signed on the back and initialed on the front.    IN REGARDS TO VALUE...   All 3 pieces are original, not mechanical reproductions of any kind. Certainly, this may be a real find, speaking of value, here is an interesting tidbit in the news recently...   "PAINTING VALUED AT $3,000 SELLS FOR $4.5 MILLION..."  Perhaps you read the recent AP article with this title.  If not, please look it up, it is by Thomas Wagner, reporting from London, it is well-worth reading.  The article says that "experts" had valued a painting a only $3,078, but when it went to auction, it sold for $4.5 million!!  Why?  Because true art collectors don't really trust what "experts" say (who often intentionally devalue a piece, with the secret intention of purchasing it themselves, at a huge discount!)  But sophisticated art investors will pay top-dollar for the right pieces.  These are folks that have money to burn, and if they like a piece, they have the means to pay, and will not allow anyone else to take it from them!  THIS is reality in the world of Fine Art, and it is the best reason to INVEST in quality original pieces.  PLEASE keep this in mind as you evaluate our offerings!   All 3 of this amazing art collection are SIGNED pieces, They are all old, this could be an incredible find, and they are all original, not mechanical reproductions of any kind. Again, the pieces here are entirely original. The drawings are really something to behold. Not only do they compare favorably in style, but add to that the evident age of the paper, and there could be some real potential here. On two of the base there are the words "27L". All the pieces look to be in excellent shape some might have minor condition issues like a small scuff or some dust, etc....  These unique works are truly fantastic in quality, and must be seen to be fully appreciated!  The artists were very gifted, these only look the more impressive the closer one gets to them.        VALUE...The market for better old Deco pieces is extraordinarily "hot" right now, and you would be hard pressed to find anything quite like this.  Often people think of stark blacks and whites when they think of "Deco", but the style was much broader than the simplistic caricature often cited.  Collectors are looking for solid pieces, genuine Deco items that are not only top-quality, but also out of the ordinary.  Here you have it all, we dare say that these could well prove to be unique.  Our brief research did not positively identify, but "similar" items seemed to be so seldom offered, always a frustrating "sold", and most often for substantial sums we would never have guessed!  We wish we had more to report for our bidders, but perhaps you are a better researcher, or have more time than we have been given.  These could be real "sleepers" as far as value.   Please take a look at the photos...         As many know, individual pieces can be quite costly, and a collection like this surely must have taken a large sum of money, time and effort to put together.  But as most serious collectors know, it is a labor of love, and worth every cent.  Besides, good pieces like these are really an investment, it's so hard to find anything decent these days, many continue to go up and up in value!
