Description
This auction will be for an original and early 'MARINE SEXTANT ' Maker marked in flowing script to 'J. Halden - Jersery' (England). I don't find this maker in the Directory, but will estimate a date based on construction and design of 1830's - 1850's. Hand-dovetailed fitted oak case is probably an old replacement - excellent condition. Brass exterior fittings (swing clips have been newly added). Case has been nicely refinished and rubbed out. Sextant is in excellent original as-found condition - the brass showing a dark age patination. Filters are all present and undamaged. Two eyepieces screw into the instrument properly. Very nice cocobola handle. Show age and use, but overall is in very good condition and is display-ready. Excellent addition to any marine collection... Very reasonable Reserve... Shipping -- Buyer pays shipping - Calculator below - Insurance - Shipping insurance at buyer's option and cost. -- I am not responsible for items in transit -- -- I recommend insurance on most parcels, but if your item is heavy, if your item is expensive, or if your item is fragile, I urge you to opt for shipping insurance Thank you
